How to test a craigslist sp?

i'm thinking about getting a sp-606 off craigslist. what tests should i run?

try the mute/unmute tracks, try the 2 fx, and the knobs...i noticed that knobs and buttons on the 606 are very fragile...once i had to substitute the 2fx buttons (it was sold like this)...check the pads too (obviously), and if you have a compact flash card try this too. check the ins/out, trying to sample things...

Ask what OS is it on. Roland updated it a few times. I'm still on 1.0 which has ocassional glitches, but I like it for all the wrong reasons though.

Find(YahooGroups)/get(eBay)/ask(Roland-support) for the Service Notes before you testdrive it. Most Roland gear has a test-procedure which you can run.

It usually involves various selftests & pressing each button etc.

Gives me a good feeling about everything working fine. Note though that it might erase certain data, so ask the seller if he/she is OK with running tests !
