Just got my sp404sx - Quick question

Post by acronym »

Ok reading the manual, pads feel like apc40 but so far been playing with stock sounds not sure what the heck I'm doing.

Like to know will going through the manual leave me with everything I need to know, or is there a tutorial site or better yet threads I can look up for some invaluable tricks?.

Read manual front to back. Type sp-404 into youtube. When u r reading manual do every function on 404 as u read about it. Wash, rinse, repeat. Have fun!

This whole place is full of people with tricks for you. Just be specific. The manual is your friend.

I'm going through the manual before asking for tricks and tips.

However, I do have one question, been using batteries and they sp just dies in under a hour these are alkaline ones but is that normal?

There are many brands for alkaline batteries that have different quality and make sure checking (like food) their expire date...
For every portable device I use quality rechargeable batteries with as much high Ampers (lasting longer) I can find for my budget...
Sorry for my poor English

Thanks, trimming is really alien to me without a waveform display, love resampling and mangling sounds though.

Ok few questions...

To resample a pattern is the best method to connect the line out to line in and resample like that. I could do it with a daw but rather not using a pc so to speak.

Also when I'm resampling, is there a method where I can have the metronome playing so it doesn't get too sloppy?.

If you have the 404sx then you can copy a pattern using the function button. Same with samples

ok so a workaround would be to record pattern audio to a daw and then sample it back into the sp404sx I guess.

Also with resampling since it doesn't use a pattern sequencer can you enable a metronome or something so I can keep in time or any tips to make beats more tight and not a mess.

Well, since you have your daw busted out, just play a metronome on it through the speakers.

Sounds like you need a sp555 8)

Or, go buy a cheap zoom handheld recorder or a tape deck for simple bounce back and forth stuff...keeps you off a PC at least

because the 555 can resample entire patterns using loop capture
Plus its a USB audio interface if you want to bounce back and forth on PC.
