I wanna rap over a beat SP 404SX resampling problem
I have a long instrumental track on one pad and I want to resample it while recording vocals onto another pad. It seems like this is impossible because you can't resample from another pad while recording an exterior source. Any work arounds?

record to tape/laptop/multitrack, then back to sp if needs be.

I have a KP3 connected out of the SP404sx so i can always record into that i was just hoping there was a way. I guess the 303 does win here.

i use a 404 + 303 to record my friend rap...i use the 404 as the mic and i let him listen to the beat on the 303. then i just resample his flow with the beat onto the 303. BAM!

This is maaad low budget makeshift, lol, but bare w me,cause it works well. Put your instrumental on cd..connect cd player to a reciever or use one of those old table top stereos. You now need one pair of over ear headphones, and one pair of earbuds. Run your Mic into the sp(better w a preamp into line ins)...then lol, have the mc put the earbuds on,w the other phones over them. Hook the buds to the sp,and the over the ears to the receiver. Now you can hear the instrumental in the phones, and your lyrics in the earbuds from the 404. Record the verse into a pad on the sp,add some vinyl sim comptession,a little reverb,delay,eq...and play it w your beat in the sp like u would any other ssmple. I've done a few pretty dope joints like this. Ahhh the things you come up w as a broke sp user.

Or basically what spacetrip said,lol...but this way u can use stuff u already have...and w the dual headphones you can hear the beat and the vocals together like you need to to spit as good as possible.

2007! With the gear I used then... No SP
Recorded straight to an MP3-player. You can see and hear it...
Worth laughing at

gis_sweden @ 0.47 did you say KFC? .. ahhhhhhh .. KFC!
@ AKSPRAY .. you could just record with the SP mic (or with other mic as input) on with beat playing into any other recording device (if applicable) .. preferably one with line input
you'll only be able to record one take though

If you're using SP mic, you can do this:
Record your pad to external source (tape or whatever). Play that back in your earphones while you record through mic with nothing else on SP.
Now play both pads together (you'll have to edit start point of the vocals.
You can do this onto tape with your voice and just play SP pad into your earphones and record mic to tape. Then sample tape into 404.

You are gonna need his acapella for remixes or maybe resample quotes and throw effects over them, so resampling the beat and rhymes might not be a good idea.
Why don't you connect the headphones to the 404 and have your boy rap to tape or DAW or whatever and just sample it or better yet load the vocals up from your PC to a SD card and import it to a pad for D/D conversion, thats if you're using software and have SX.
