transitioning from kp3 to sp404sx sampling problems

Post by gcwhite38 »

Just got my new sp404sx in the mail and running into some frustrating problems that could be fixed with a little help (or more time with the manual).

I've been using the kp3 for a while, with a turntable and drum machine fed into a mixer, which is then fed into the kp3. While feeding in the drums, I specify the bpm and the number of beats in the kp3, hit the sample button and pad, and it forms a perfect loop which plays back immediately. The other samples fed into the kp3 (cut up from the turntable through the mixer) are sequenced with the beat.

After reading about the pattern sequencer in the manual before I bought the sp404, I thought I could use the same technique by feeding beats and samples into it.

Any suggestions?

I have the same two machines (404SX and KP3) and the SX definitely can't do the same thing as the KP3 on matching bpm but if you're going from the KP3 into the SX you could always just copy the bpm numbers.

... I dont use turntable BUT what happens if you link them together with a midi cable. Then the SP will have exact the same bpm as the kp3. Curios...
Maybe you have tried that.

But it is a great combo :D
