Making a really rad tape before bed, and then waking up only to find yourself just not feelin it at all, and scraping the whole thing.

This is more of an aspect of beat-making that I hate.

    • People that tell you that you should always quantize your beat.

I find it's always better to trust your own natural swing than to go with some boring 2-step/four on the floor beat pattern. Also it's more interesting to listen to.

dont do that. just play your thing twice or three time and only set loop point when you really need it.

i used to always make loop point on every "layer" of resampling and found out I should just retrigger it on time untill the final 16bar or whatever is done.

Sitting at your sp ready to bang shit out and you have literally no idea as to what to make. Like, there are instances where I have many random ideas bouncing through my head and no idea how to start actualizing them.

Finding the time, having the money for things I haven't gotten around to getting, such as: a proper desk with plenty of room to keep everything nice and organized, studio monitors, a audio interface, etc.

Starting from scratch is a little hard, all I have now is a ER-1 mk2, and a Akai S20. I plan to get my Mackie Mixer out of the pawn shop, pay off a Moogerfooger MF-104m analogue delay pedal, a proper desk that it's soooo time to invest in, a decent chair, studio monitors, and then upgrade my Akai S2000's outputs and add the FX card. I might allow myself some distractions, like the Korg Volcas, or a MS-20mini, but I'm really wanting to get a sp or Zoom Sampletrack right about now (I've even posted that I'm looking for one here).

I'm kind of rambling, but deep down inside, I've got the ideas, just need the time and patience in aquiring it the tools I want, to take me to the level I'm trying to reach. But, I'll get there.

why not just sample it with the singing in it? unless its really horrible...

what part do i hate?

this thread! just joking...(can't believe no one beat me to that one!)

but in all seriousness i don't understand how people can complain about getting to create art... its like in secondhand sureshots w j-rocc saying, 'that's a good question, i never thought about 'am i enjoying this?' its just what i do...'
if any part of the process is a chore, why are you even doing it? it should be (mostly) fun

sorry, rant over!
