Doube hits while recording a sequence?

So, I just love my 303. Best sampler ever and prolly' the only one I'll be using for ever.

I have a problem though. When I'm recording a sequence and lets say lay down the kick, I sometimes here the kick twice, this never happens when I'm not recording.

Is that normal?

That happens when you have quantize on. I'm not sure if the 404 does this, but the 303 corrects your timing in real time when the quantize function is on.

So, if you have quantize set at 4 (quarter notes), and you hit your kick a little before the down beat, you will hear the kick where you exactly played it, but you will also hear the kick on the precise quarter note. Thus, you hear it twice.

Is this what you're talking about?

Thanks! I've thought of that, but still wanted to ask cuz' I want my baby to be in perfect shape.

That's exactly what the 'problem' was (by the way, the 404 doesn't correct in real time).

wow I was wonderin wtf was goin!I had the same experience glad to know this!Yo mostblunted I also figured a way to overcome this cuz it was buggin me out for a bit.Turn your volume down on the 303 while sequencing and you wont hear it correct while playing.For me it helped because I thought my timimg was off or somethin know I know thats just the machine doin time correction!

Just put your snare on the 2nd and the 4th with the metronome and 1/8th note quantize on, then turn quantize off and the metronome click and play the kicks on the 1rst and the 3rd and play your hi-hat's also with the quantize off.
That's how Flying Lotus makes those tracks that sound a little off but still on some sort of steady tempo because of the snare being sequenced.

i always take 2 hits then pass when recording a sequence, sorry just being stupid...

I'd usually take a blunt to the face while making beats, no wonder I never make finished songs.
