Battle 131 - Shack Up After Hours and Vote

Post by hseiken »

Click on the names to hear their beats!
There's been lots of entries for battles as of late. Let's hope the trend continues!

Original Sample 1 - Sandy Owen - "After Hours"
Original Sample 2 - Banbarra - Shack Up (break out take only)

RULES: SP's only, bouncing to tape, PC or another SP is allowed. Minor vocal samples and scratching allowed, no outside synths, only sound generation provided by your SP(s) of choice. Chopping allowed outside of SP as long as SP is used for final sequencing and effects.

Poll will run for 7 days. Good luck to all the participants! Remember, it's not about winning, it's about the fight, the music and experience!

In the event of a two-way tie, the winner of the battle will actually be determined by the parties in the tie. (i.e. it's out of my hands. You guys can have a mini battle, can each provide a sample and agree to rules of next battle, etc.). In the event of a tie between 3 or more people, the poll will be left open until the tie is broken completely or is at least reduced to a two-way tie, at which time the previous two-way tie rules go into affect.

NOTE: The following track by ZOOMO could not be counted as an entry due not using the provided drum samples and adding in a different drum sample.

Please be sure to read specific battle rules before sitting down in the lab! If you have questions, please ask the BattleMaster to clarify anything. Each battle's rules are specified by that specific person. Don't assume a different battle's rules are in effect for one you wish to enter.

Hope to see everyone in the fight club again next time!

UNSIGNED/Love how you flip the sample with the piano loop in back (like several negrosaki beats)with the sax?/tromp? and this rythmic is good.+
NOCTUSARI/Classic beat, a bit too for me but i like your filter and the reverse is mastered.
FLUENT/Cool rythmic with the triple snares, flipis good but and ilike the short time 0:59
GRANDPAKYRE/Dopecuts,0:26 the best for me, and the 2 parts are good together
A'JIN/good drum flow, solemn flip ,too long for me
DIM XL/LO-fi in back is good , and when the flanger arrive i valid ! cool voice cut
GIS_SWEEDEN /An UFO! but i like the "mystic house" haha! good resampling
SAM_MALASKA /like the start, the 2 loops are cool, good game with the hihats
4ARON /nice respect of the og drumloop (like the way you shift the paterns, piano +reverse is good !! @1:08 good resample ,nice lo-fi
CHOPPERMAN / i love what you did with the sample , like the LOWCLUB (listen fulgeance ;) nice flip on your virgin sp  +
RUNME RAW/ CRAZY SHIT! hot drum flow ! i'm curious about the snare resample  flip is awesome ;voice cuts are dope ++
LAZERBEAR / SUPER DOPE/good drumflow with the rolls / heavy compression /the drop à 0:21 is dope with the mfx24 before //@1:23 = dope + good finish ++
TINGE/ RAW ISH @0:41 dope drop with the lo-fi and in general a nice game the samples ;)
SELFTAUGHT ASTRONAUT /cool drum ,and nice sample: classic but nice (your beat remember me a bugseed)
SUMMEDPERCEPTIONS / mofo resampling ang crazy sidechain compression with the piano; good

for my part , it was hard to get a nice kick with good low (resample with a subsonic and an eq)// the rest is 99lenght ...freestyle drum....after freestyle sample....+acapella

after hesitate between runme raw and lazerbear i vote for runme raw for all the ambient:noises, voices, runme raw sample...it is fat and more raw . 8) but lazerbear your flip is great 8) and all the flip are good with each their own touch !

UNSIGND - SOLID BEAT. PIANO SOUNDS GREAT. I LIKE HOW THE HIHATS ARE A BIT OFF BEAT TO GET THINGS SWINGING.
NOCTUSARI - VERY DOPE. IMPRESSIVE USE OF EFFECTS. GAVE ME A COUPLE IDEAS TO TRY OUT ON MY NEXT BEAT.
FLUENT - NICE FINGER DRUMMING.
GRANDPAKYRE - RAW. DOPE SCRATCHING. I LIKE HOW YOU DID THAT TRANSITION AT 0:25. TASTEFUL USE OF LOOP EFFECT. NICE VOCAL SAMPLE CHOICES.
A'JIN - DOPE DRUM PATTERNS. ADDED SOME TASTY DIRT TO THOSE PIANO AND HORN SAMPLES. WELL DONE.
DIMXL - GREAT INTRO. STEADY BUILD. A DAMN GOOD BEAT. NICE SKAT SKIT.
GIS SWEDEN - I LIKE THE PANNING PERCUSSION. VERY UNIQUE TRACK. INSPIRING IN ITS ORIGINALITY.
SAM MALASKA - RAW AND ORIGINAL. NICE PERCUSSION. THAT STATIC SOUND WORKS WELL.
4ARON - WILD! COOL HOW IT SKIPS OFF BEAT AT TIMES. IT MAKES SENSE WITH THAT CRAZY LOOP SOUP.
RUNME RAW - INCREDIBLY DOPE. GREAT ARTWORK AS WELL.
LAZER BEAR - COOL FLIP. SOUNDED GREAT YESTERDAY THROUGH THE BOOMBOX, NOT QUITE AS GREAT TONIGHT THROUGH THE HEADPHONES. THAT VHS CHIRP SLIGHTLY STUNG THESE BEAT-UP EAR DRUMS.
TINGE - NICE VIBE TO IT. ANOTHER ONE THAT IS MORE ENJOYABLE THROUGH SPEAKERS THAN HEADPHONES.
SELFTAUGHT ASTRONAUT - NICE USE OF THE TIMELESS VOCALS OF BUSTA. DEFINITELY A DIGABLE PIECE.
SUMMEDPERCEPTIONS - ONE OF A KIND. LOVED IT.
CHICKADEE - ANOTHER UNIQUE ONE. I APPRECIATE THE EXPERIMENTATION EVEN WITH BLEEDING EARS (NOT JUST FROM YOURS. SP BATTLE + HEADPHONES + LOUD = )
TIME TO BREAK THIS 6-WAY TIE WITH A HARD-EARNED VOTE FOR RUNME RAW.
A FEW DAYS AGO I USED MY LOOPS FROM BATTLE 126 TO MAKE A SONG ABOUT MY CITY. HERE'S A LINK, FEEL FREE TO CLICK THAT SHIT.http://soundcloud.com/collins-spaedy/ode-to-l-town

Great stuff all around. Lotta great contenders, but I'm going with Runme Raw. Just those bells from :25-35 alone got my vote 8) . The piano/sax chops really work for me here shifting around as a backdrop for a kungfu barrage in the fore. Nice work man.:: See you all in the next battle.
