First of all, it's all my opinion and to me it sounds PHAT (I've never really heard analog things so I'm not sure if I can confirm that it sounds pretty analog), alot better and cheaper(!, secondhand) than a Microkorg. Really enjoyed it so far.
Yet the programming might be a little bit hard and it's lots of menu-diving indeed. But for the price and sound I really can't be bothered by it and might find my way after reading the 130 page manual. Personally I'm convinced you can have alot of fun with it if you can't be bothered by the way it has to be programmed.
If you're somewhat familiar and, once again, not bothered by it's programming I can really recommend this synth. As beginner who is new to it, I actually wouldn't. Unless you're determined and are willing to learn how to program it and actually read the manual.
