From the manual:

While holding down the CANCEL button, press the REMAIN button. The BANK buttons will blink and the display will indicate FnT

Press any one of the BANK buttons.

The BANK buttons will change from blinking to lit and the DEL button will blink.

Press the DEL button. The DEL button will light, and formatting will begin. During the formatting process, the dot in the display will blink. When the blinking stops, formatting is complete.

Never turn off the power while the dot is blinking. Doing so may damage the card.

Don't modify or delete the files or folders that are created when an SD card is formatted. The 404 will not recognize the card correctly if you do.

Good luck. Also be adviced that max card size is 32GB SDHC card. If you're using larger, it won't work.

The card works perfectly. It always feels like a risk to buy these cards because of the bad things i have heard about them

I've heard nor experienced no downsides in SD cards. You must be thinking CF or SM.

SM are easily corruptible and CF tend to bend pins when inserted into the slot without being careful.
