boards of canada

Post by LAZER BEAR »

Anyone here into boards of Canada? I used to be super into them and I was flipping through my CD collection and rediscovered how amazing those dudes are. They get such amazing sounds.

Hahahaha! Dude there's a new album by them coming every year. Never happens, probably never will happen. No mention of it anywhere that matters. But they did say in a few interviews that they were making an acoustic version of MHTRTC & working on a re-release of the pre-Skam albums & EPs. That was back in '05 & '06, they've been silent ever since.

Gotta love 'em, can't think of many other bands or musicians with a back story so tantalising and use of themes/samples as interesting as theirs. Can't recommend then enough to anyone who hasn't heard them. ROYGBIV, Everything You Do Is A Balloon, 1969 & Dayvan Cowboy are perfect.

"Music has the right to children" and "geogaddi" albums.
I bought a juno106 to have a near sound to them. But the boards of canada use other synths (kawai, dx100, sh101 etc) plus old recorders and other evil strategies.
Amazing sounds from the 90s.

One of the bands/artists that made me love music so much. Theyve got such a unique sound. so many people try and cop their sound and its a little ridiculous how much i hear it today.

but yeah... theyre dope, i love the hip hop influence they have, and at the same time have tracks that are far from the spectrum of hip hop, a true love for music and passionate musicians
Tried some New Styles with this beat tape. I dont wanna sound the same as others but take that little bit of influence.

Fugz yeah... BoC is the reason I got into beat making. I used to be all about playing metal and rock on bass, guitar, and drums but I got sick of relying on others to create so I said fuck it and got a sampler.

Anyone into boards who hasn't heard it should give the Kona Triangle album a try (It's done by Lone and Keaver & Brause... Lone always has a lot of Boards influences going on...)

I've just recently gotten into Boards of Canada and damn they have some really interesting music. I only have 'music has the right to children', but I planned on checking more of their stuff out when I have the time to sit down and listen to it in full.

That 'Tears of the Compound Eye' track is really pretty too. Whoag h.

some very mysterious happenings since Record Store Day, hinting at an impending BoC album:
