Battle 130 - Nocturnal Mist

Post by Teewok »

Found some really smooth stuff for 130. Hope you guys have fun with this. Here it is (actually two tracks back to back):

Marcus Miller - Nocturnal Mist/Revelation
https://www.box.com/s/ly6vie85jjcqj3yxjr30

Outside drums are again allowed. No synths or outside vocal samples. Stick to the provided sample (with the exception of drums). Any questions just post them here.

Deadline to submit is Feb. 20, 2013 at 6pm Eastern time. Bring on the beats!

Hey, got a question...is this program allowed in battles? I'm interested in playing around with it (haven't yet) and thought a battle would be a good reason to try it out.

External sequencing is likely a no no...I think the idea here is to show us how well you can manipulate the sample within the confines of your SP.

ENTRY. I didn't use external sequencers.

All resampling. Drums are edited from Cold Grits "It's Your Thang".

Sax on the beach, ya'll.

Agree with Teewok. It’s not OK to use an external sequencer. SP-battle beats should be made in and with the SP only. That’s what I think.

i havent competed in a while, i wasnt feelin the samples for the last few battles. the drums came from me playing on my electronic kit and i chopped and resampled em to beef em up. i bounced it to tape and then recorded on audacity. in previous battles it was decided that bouncing to tape was ok so i did it.
