Using SP-555 with a Footswitch for recording insturments

Post by GeraldTheModest »

Hello all. I just got myself a sp-555 in the mail today and have been playing around with its all it's functions this evening. I am enjoying the unit but I have a few questions about it which I hope you guys can help me with.

First of all, I want to use the unit to record samples from my electric guitar and other instruments but in order to get my timing right with the metronome I need a way to active a record function on the sampler with a footswitch. I would prefer to use the sample recorder as opposed to the loop capture recorder as I don't need to loop any of these samples. Is this possible with any of the foot switches this unit can work with? I'm confused with what the differences they have and there is little documentation in the manual.

Thanks,
Gerald

No the foot switch can't start/stop the sampler. Although I have often wanted it too!

There is a page towards the back of the manual that describes how it can be used.

You can start/stop the loop capture though with recording....doesn't matter if you want it to be a loop. You can get a cheap $10 sustain pedal for a keyboard.

Only bad part, you have the 16 second or so limitation w/ loop capture but its nice to be able to tap in the start/stop and have the metronome going at same time...

Hopefully someone can help me with this foot pedal issue I have had that I can not figure out. I have a boss fs-5l foot pedal and when I try to use it for looping I have to step on it twice to turn looping on and twice again to turn it off. Anybody know how I could make it turn on and off with just one step?

As far as I know, the SP-555 needs a momentary switch, like the FS-5U.
The FS-5L is latch type. Maybe this is the problem
