Oh yeah! He been on for a while though. He had a couple CDs for sale on Amazon.com when he first came out. Word is that no one knows who he is, but MF DOOM somehow is behind it. I think he made the beats or ghostwrote his lyrics, I can't remember the contraversy but yeah, MF DOOM got his hand on Clutchy.

Re: clutchy hopkins
i heard that doom/clutchy EP was fanmade, all tracks were doom acapellas that were available and tracks from the couple of clutchy releases, there has been a bunch of speculation but i don't think any word has came out yet
guess i haven't really heard anything besides the few albums with the track lengths as the track titles and 'walking backwards', gotta look into his other stuff, kinda forgot about him/just figured he had disappeared after those first few albums

...i feel like all the stories people tell about him are lies though. claims he lives in a cave, lol. all these epic stories about him n shit. but, it's super dope that he's still anonymous to most of us and makes such beautiful music. respect.

Yes! Discovered him on Last.fm a few years ago. Liked his stuff but for some reason totally forgot about him until now. Cheers for the heads up!

Re: clutchy hopkins
i bought 'mf doom meets clutchy hopkins' on wax a couple of years ago and that's basically how i found out about his music. tight shit
Re: clutchy hopkins
Nice find! Wasn't aware of Hopkins until now.
Can hear why folks mention Doom around Hopkins. Sounds like what Doom might sample, but not what he'd make. Listen to the drums, Doom tends to play his drums as gated samples & the arrangements are way more complex than anything Doom's ever attempted. That & there's no skits. Doom's never not done skits (even Special Herbs had singing muppets).
Odd thing is that 'The Life of...' sounds inconsistently recorded. Like it was done in a few places with different instruments in each. Inconsistent drum & percussion recording, the guitar & bass tones are always different. Plus the drums have to be loops.
Chances are the stories are probably pretty much true. Easier to maintain a lie that's close to the truth than a lie that's way out there. This sounds like a band of jaded lifers who know their shit & just want to get people listening, not looking.
