I got an rca tape recorder and the sound is nice but it has no bass at all. Which cassette recorder would have better bass

lol i have the same problem, my philips kills bass plus it doesnt have outputs

The Dennon DRM decks are fantastic. Great sound and great build quality.

I have a DRM-500 which I picked up off eBay a while back and it's perfect.

Use chrome tapes! Thag and whatever deck that as some sort of dolby feature maybe.

Idk..but I was thinking that if you're sampling all your stuff in Lo fi,then mastering to tape- u could try not applying Lo fi to your kicks and basses,Lo fi seems to take a signfigant ammount of bass out as well ..just thinking about this cause I'm considering bouncing my new stuff to tape..haven't done that since like 2003 when it was my only option,lol

I considered that... and after a couple experiments I find that lofi doesn't take out any of the low end frequencies, at least nothing significant. My problem will soon be remedied, I'm about to get a pioneer dubbing cassette deck with record function. Should work out nicely for me

Yea if u use the Lo fi button it doesn't effect the bass too dramatically,I usually use Lo fi mfx though..rate at about 11 oclock bit at 12 oclock..kinda emulates the sp1200..this definitely takes a lot of low end out.but yea,an old high end pioneer is dope..I'm looking into a denon,just got one of their receivers,their tape decks are supposed to sound real nice

I was scoping out denon decks on eBay and they were a little on the pricey side, pioneer is a solid brand and the price is right so I figure I'll go for it.

marantz decks can be had for pretty cheap on ebay and sound phenomenal. I bounce stuff to mine all the time and walk around the house listening for details that need changing on a handheld cassette player.

if you have a local goodwill/salvation army there are always tape decks to be had cheap as hell and sounding 90% as good, YMMV. I use an old off brand one and it does the tape saturation juuuuuust fine.

Wet your tapes, then let them dry in the sun.
Won't help the bass but will give a nice different flavor each time.

Some say warped tape is cool

Run your outs into a graphic equalizer before going into your recording source. Get an EQ that has a couple outs so you can monitor.

I use Tascam246. It does not kill lows or highs, it only add fat tape saturation.
It is also convenient to have mixer and 4track in 1 device.

I heard that there were existed best of the best Akai and Vestax cassette multitrackers

Hey there, i am a big fan of the tascam 414, since i bought one cheap and get used to it. Very good "dolby dbx" noise reduction and you can route every one of the 4 mono inputs to every channel. So i don't have to switch my inputs when i record my tracks. I use 2 channels for stereo-drum and "general beat" recording and 2 channels for voice samples or synths etc. Overdubbing is really easy too, because of the tape cue- feature for each channel. I learned that it depends on the quality of the tape i use how good the quality is in the end. And it sounds better when i record the same on all 4 channels in one take. Ah and you got a pitch knob, where you can slow down or fast up the speed of the tape.
