Mini MS-20 by Korg...

Post by ellaguru »

it's officially out!

nice review
http://createdigitalmusic.com/2013/01/k ... nual-pics/

official demo by Korg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hA-owDEGpac

Demo by Create Digital Music
https://soundcloud.com/cdm/korg-ms-20-mini-exclusive

considerations:
i have an original MS-20
i got no fear of the keys dimensions.
what impress me it's THE SOUND.
then, if the sound is near to Korg demo, well, i just don't like it at all!!!
if, instead, the sound is near to CDM demo, that's really cool!!

I hate that roland has quit innovating/keeping up like korg/arturia/etc

but

at the end of the day, they'll sell a shit ton of those mediocre romplers/workstations to crappy cover bands, lackluster church musicians, and lame-as-ever burned out home musicians and make their money.

And korg will sell the MS20 to the diehard synth/old school keyboard market in small but respectable numbers, while roland is ducktales-diving into their pool of gold bullion from their boring as shit keyboard regurgitations.

Its like making some badass car ressurected - Acura NSX, Nissan Skyline, BMW whatever..the world rubs their chin and nods in approval then gets in their ford fusion/nissan altima/chevy shitbox and goes home to watch basic cable and go to sleep

<end rant>

let's hope that Roland, seeing this Korg/Arturia (i forget the minibrute also!)/Elektron analog reviving strategy follows the bandwagon and do some new/old synth back to life (juno, jupiter, tb303 etc)...

I just checked this out, has anyone actually used one here. If so what are your impressions?. I'm seriously thinking of buying this since I sold my microkorg, plus I would kick my self later for passing on real analog.

i relisten better some demos and my impressions are changed.
now it seems to me that the mini ms20 sounds more like a monotron...
i think it's a cool machine, but i'll wait to try one personally.

king korg is a VA synth w/ a tube overdrive stage, a far cry from a roland rompler.
Korg knows how to play both sides.

Okay, so I'm getting the impression that I should pass on this. I own the korg monotron delay, it's fantastic for the price and I already get sounds out of that which I'm happy with.

Ooops, missed the specs.By the layout it seemed more like a preset-and-play on-stage than going deeply onto programming sounds.Roland still has v-synths and (new)jupiters but too expensive...
As far for the ms-20 it looks very interesting and more flexible than minibrute.
