It's all good. I use to rock the SP so I always come back to see what's up with my fellow SP users.

reggie is sick with it.
He had this on YouTube, where he gets far more replies than this site. There's more eyes watching YouTube.
But of course, the true underground heads coming with heat remain loyal to the SP-Forums!
But reg, I hate seeing that damn MPC. I loathe that machine. I have some vandetta against it.
You could have chopped it on your Sampletrak and wouldn't need to have muffled it to make it dirty. That Zoom ST comes packaged to include raw grime!
Hope you didn't part with it.

Man you are in my head. I am actually going to reintroduce the Zoom Sampletrack here shortly. I was going to do it on this video but it's coming up. People really don't understand the power of the Sampletrack and I did not get rid of it. Excellent point! I use the 1000 because I have a 80 gb hard drive on board and I can work on several projects.
Re: How would you flip it? (Project 6)
My boy swore by his MPC. And the day it crashed on him, he lost so many sounds in his library. He finally got his feet grounded and said to me: "man, I'm just gonna get a Zoom Sampletrak so my samples sound gritty right out the gate and then record everything to computer to burn to CDs."
I kind of followed in that path as well.

It's a whole other subject, but, to me, Akai's MPCs are too computer-y.
I mean, they're super machines, and I do like the big pads with a good feel to them.
But with all that disk space, and oh-so-cool operating system, there's a couple hidden pitfalls:
1. The thing can crash and lose a massive amount of data. And,
2. Puts you in the habit of building up a huge database of audio files, that in turn, you pluck through listening to them, and not go back to shelves and pull out the actual records to listen through.
I found myself getting to "filed" and using a hiearchy of sound clips to dig through and restrict myself to using pre-recorded sounds that I went along chopping along the way.
Then I started going back into the dusty shelves and pulling out records and listening to them. And being like "wait! I didn't hear that piece the last time I listened to this." And actually playing my vinyl collection so much that I had it stored all up in my head. Then putting something together, recollect and pull out a few pieces of wax to bring to my machine and drop the needle live to lift samples.

Everything you said is 100% and you motivated me more to bring out the Zoom again. In due time, I will unleash the power of the zoom and the opening will be jay z "allow me to reintroduce myself" LOL!
I have always been an MPC head so that is true to me as well and fortunately, I have never had any issues with the ones I used.

Love this series. I'll make something one of these days with these.
