This would suck... Makes me glad I don't save samples & patterns (factory resets every month or two) & save everything finished to Bandcamp (hidden from the public).

But yeah, losing whole albums? Ouch.

in the stupid audio engineer school they always told us to back up our stuff at least 2 times. never took it serious until it my harddisk died and i lost a lot of samples and some good songs. 2 finished albums? damn! that's hard. i feel really sorry for you man.

this has happened to me a few times, you might be able to rescue your files, i dont recomend using usb drives for backups, keep your data on CD !

did your operating system crash, or your hdd physically die, you can rescue data with linux live , i think the program is called test disk.

i remember same things as tape smoke records and squ!L said yet.
hope you find that way to rescue those damn files: 3 albums (and other things) lost is a damn crime!!

as tape smoke said put stuff on cd or dvd. even better make double copies. and make copies of the copy every year or so (i don't do that but your data will be pretty damn safe if you do it) if you upload your music hidden on bandcamp like unfolding said it's probably as safe as storing it at home though. right now i'm backing most of the music up on an external hdd but you never know if or when it will stop working. reminds me of burning data cd's again.

That suuucks yo
Before I had capabilities to record my beats in high quality I just kept folders of every .spo file for each beat on my laptop. Luckily I decided to grab a thumbdrive to back up probably 5 years worth of material cus soon after my laptop got fucked up an I lost almost everything. The laptop was fixed, and I ended up with a small portion of the folders back on my laptop. Shortly after I moved and somehow lost the thumbdrive and along with it literally years worth of beats. I managed to retain about 140 beats and that's just a small portion of what was there. Fuckin hate losing shit like that

I copped an extra 1tb HD just for backups after this happened a year or so ago. Another pro tip for using towers is to have a separate HD to install the OS and apps on and then another for documents. So if your computer crashes you can wipe the OS drive and not touch any of your documents. I do that then make a backups of my main documents HD. This shit sucks majorly but it only takes it happening once for you to start backing up all your shit like a mad man lol.
