after you finish a beat?
So what do you guys do with samples you recorded for a track once you've finished said track? do you delete them forever? save them on your comp?

Delete forever. I meticulously get rid of unused things in life in general, I'm a reverse hoarder.

If you keep them you can use and chop them differently for new songs years from now, it's good to get a big sample library of breaks/ drums and samples just to help with organisation and workflow, for example you could have a folder of string based samples, or guitar based etc. Every now and then I'll find a cool sample from a failed beat from years ago, and using the experience and techniques I've learned since make it into something good

Depends if the sample is nice cool and unique, like a nice vocal sample, Ethereal cool stuff. Dope drums...sometimes things with definite melody. or if i use one part of the song and theres still a totally different section to be flipped.
Tried some New Styles with this beat tape. I dont wanna sound the same as others but take that little bit of influence.

I'm with lazerbear....I ditch everything. I make whole tunes on my 404sx and scrap everything once my finished track is recorded onto my ipad.

I'm a ditcher too. Although I'll record the loops in separately into Ableton so I can then resample for live shows etc.
