Amy abstract/ ambient/experimental SP heads here?

Post by Astromass »

Hey hey
I've noticed most folks are doing some pretty rad hip hop/beats on their SP's here.
Any heads doing abstract/ambient/experimental/soundscape/weirdness?
I just got my sp404sx and am LOVING iT.
I'm working on stuff that features fractured beats, skippy stutters, melty bass tones, sonic winds and breezes, mangled spoken words, glitchy textures, psychedelic washes, shoegazer walls of colored noise....etc.
I don't really listen to a lot of similar stuff, as I spend most of my time singing and playing bass in an alt rock/new wave live-looping duo (with a drum machine, and dual boss rc-300 loopers). Thecasualdistractions.com (which also features 100+ HOURs of live experimental improvisation... Sorry for the plug)
I'll be starting up a bandcamp site to share some of my crazy creations as I finish them.

Also, any fun tips for doing this style of tunes on the SP?

Thanks y'all.

cool, thanks for sharing
The casual distractions album (with another name) was interesting.
i got this project of alt/ambient/folk (don't know how to define it) very badly recorded (sorry in advance), but for some reason it's been a long time i didn't update songs on the site

Hey
Thanks for the recommendations! This new SP tune that I'm working on is NUTS! I can't wait to share it. It has the loose/grippy feel that was lacking from what I've been doing with my ableton live rig.
Word.

Those two immediately come to mind when it comes to doing experimental stuff. They're good at resampling, friendly & around spend a bit of time here. Shoot them a PM about their techniques, chances are they're up for a chat.

I do some experimental stuff with noise artist PigLust. A mixture of cutups, feedback, spoken word etc. It makes no sense but it's fun to do.

Hmm, works fine for me. Must be a glitch in the matrix! Try again some time.
