Combining a sampletrak with a sp-505

i'm getting a sp-505 today, already got a sampletrak. i want to use the sampletrak to sample drums and tune/timestretch then make songs on the sp-505. i'm going to use the headphone jack to get the sounds out of the sampletrak but will a mixer make it sound a lot better? like the sampletrak outs to a mixer to the sp-505 ins. if so i'm going to buy a mixer friday.

you don't need a mixer unless for example you wanted to have several things hooked up for easy sampling to SP505 , like keyboard/bass guitar/sampletrak on different channels then sample each as needed.

Headphone out will be fine, just watch your gain staging...usually the device you are recording out of (Sampletrak) will be on max volume, then your sampling device (SP) will be on the least gain necessary to get a strong signal.

No reason to use the headphone jack (?) Just use the outs with a quarter to eighth inch cable..but yea this is a great combo..st can do all the things the sp can't.I always sample my shit thru the st to the 404 to at least apply an extra effect while sampling.imo this is the best and most affordable combo w an sp.and the st just has a dope sound to it.

the sample track will help neutralize your lows and cut the highs a bit, so it will keep you in a comfortable frequency range, when sampling in the 404 mic input the lows blast way to rank, maybe this is just how mic amps boost beats, but im still learning the 404 and its almost broken, time to get a couple new ones.

i got the 505 a couple months ago and yes it combos great with a sampletrak. actually all my samplers (505 microsampler mpc 1000) combo great with sampletrak. but the 505 it adds the most to due to lack of legit pitch function.
