Is a used/cheap sp-202 worth it?

Post by marcus »

And if so, what's the most I should pay for one. Just looking for an extra machine to add to my live set-up (404, mpc 500 & kaosillator)

It has a great sound that makes sounds mangled with it sonewhat unique, but it really has not really got that much features obviously. Not sure if they are still up, but I would look for a video or two ob youtube. As for what they are worth, I would say a hundred fifty max, likely less but they are pretty rare these days so they might not come cheap.

The memory cards are what's going up, while the sp202 itself is going down. Funny how that works out. It's the most basic and limited of the SP's, but it did start the whole lineup, so you kind of expect it to have it's short comings. Look for them on eBay, and hopefully the previous owner throws in a card or 2 for you. Don't pay more than $200 for one if you can, or you might want to just get a 303.

i would say since you have a 404 that the 202 would be a perfect complimentary piece.. you don't need a memory card. trust , bank a/b will suit you just fine

i thought bank c/d works as a mute group though so you'd be losing that feature...
