It still has the vinyl sim so you can use the flutter function on it. Sounds pretty nice on synth samples and stuff. They removed the compression part of this effect and added a filter instead.

How about the swing quantize on the sp404sx. I would say that's a neat improvement over the old 404. On the sp606 I really only use the swing quantize.

I own both models and the pattern copy feature is what makes me lean to the 404sx. It really helps with work flow and has made me contemplate on buying a second one.
