Ive tried both...and I can conclude, the OG is better. Though the SX has better saving capabilities (SD) and is faster, the OG just sounds warmer and also the Vinyl Sim Comp is way better than the reg compressor that the SX has.

Never tried an OG but I'm really happy with my SX.

Does the OG have the 'copy' function? That really speeds up the ol' workflow for me.

ive been ignoring vinyl sim on the OG and have found myself using the SX a lot lately.

I like the speed, softness of the pads and precision of action on the SX.

OG i like 2 compressors + i think theyre better for ducking compression.

both dope though.

I really don't understand why they would get rid of Vinyl Sim. It's the most important feature of any SP.

i don't really understand why vinyl sim is so great? i sample dusty records already. or is vinyl sim used for something else than to simulate the sound of sampled vinyl?

Dad blammit. It has the crackle and wow and flutter emulations, but separate compressor. I know you can go through the motions and use the regular compressor to approximate the same effect, but the 303, 404 OG and 505 version of vinyl sim compressor are just what the doctor ordered for me.

Its the character of the compressor that makes the vinyl sim comp so great.

The vinyl compressor on the OG was nice. I miss it on the sx, but not enough over the copy and exchange samples/patterns functions. Couldn't live without that now!

I think they both are great!! the efx arent exactly the same! in the 404sx the vinyl sim is not a compressor anymore..!!i have the 303 and the 404sx and i often checking the effects agains eachoter..the 303 is more warm sounding but the 404sx has more options.. together they are unbeatable :p..
but with the 303 when u are making beats with the resample method u can sample ext soure while ure resampling.!!.Bammm.. so u can play a live bassline from a synth or other type of shit.. thats some bullshit that roland removed that fucntions on the 404 and the 404sx ..and some people say the 404 sx is cleaner sounding.. but believe me.. and check my soundcloud if you dont.. some beats where made with only the 404sx and shits fucking raw .. u just have to use youre ears right!! But naturally without efx the 404sx is indeed cleaner :p
and eq after compression beacause the 404sx looses some low after that.
i really like the wow and flutter effect from the 404sx vinyl sim

but my conclusion on this is if you buy one doesn't matter which series and really digg in 2 the machine u will fall in love with it! and keep it in youre collection forever..!! i wouldnt wanne miss my 303 or 404 sx for sho !!

peace fam.!!!

I've had both and i ended up selling the og because the sx has mad trix and the copy function, if you don't know how to use the sx comp u can always track out into software and use a compressor in there. 404 needs a adsr effect and a limiter effect

Yall know that u can easilly copy patterns w the og right? All u do is move a pattern to bank a or b,save it,then move pattern back to one of the other banks...and then load up the one u saved.then u can move it to the same bank as the other.u can do this as many times as u need, takes like 3 minutes.its on YouTube "flying lotus trick" if I remember right.
