Exporting into *.wav-files

hey y'all,
is it possible to record a 60 minutues dj-mix on the sp404 and export this into a *.wav-file? or will there be any problems because of the sample length and the processor exporting into *.wav? I don't have a "line-in" in my laptop so i want to try to record the mix on the sp to get it on the laptop later.

Well, I've never tried that longa recording! But, even with a 1gig card, I think you'll struggle. The 404 records in a compressed format at about 50% of a normal .wav file, so a .wav export on the card needs x2 space of the 404 recording.
Say whatever the maximum 404 recording time you can get on the card is before it's full, then take a third of that time as the maximum you can record and export as .wav on the same card.
So, if your card allows 60min recording, then you can only do 20min at most and make a .wav. Assuming there is nothing else on the card. For safety, you'd be better off going no longer than 15min, so there's some slack.

If you must make really long recordings using the 404, then it's probably safer to re-record it back on to something else from the line out - CD burner, minidisk. computer soundchip line-in etc.

If you can afford it, maybe consider getting one of the flash card recorders on the market, such as a Zoom H. I have the Fostex FR2le, it's expensive but it does use Compact Flash cards, so I don't have to buy different cards.

I think you will already run into problems by just wanting to add effects to a 60min sample, the 404 will need to save the changed sample and unless you do it without errors the first time and resample I think you will run out of space pretty fast.

Just run your mixer to the rca in and run a cable from the rca out to your computer or multitrack and record direct to the hardrive, it'll be way easier.
