Yo i work on the mpc but i got an sp 404sx yesterday so i can throw the mp loops on to the sp to perform them. Everything is smooth so far except for one problem. I like for my stuff to be off time a bit like for example my rhodes late. But when i loop a sample it plays back fine while recording, but when i play it back it cuts off the sample when the sequence loops to the one. Does this make sence? I trigger the pad just late of the 1, then when the sequence plays back it silences the sample in the time between the 1 and when i trigger the pad. I hope im making sence here... Anybody know whats going on?

not sure if i get exactly what you mean.
but let´s check the basics
1. is your sample in loop mode?
2. you know that sp404sx has a limited polyphony,
maybe resample the loop in mono to make some space...?
3. just an idea... what if you resample some space in front of the sample (eg rhodes) and start the sample on 1 ? kinda workaround though

to say more i would have to know how your recording process is.
you trigger the sp with the mpc (midi) ?

Peace Adadatadata
it sounds like you have your samples in loop mode and not gate.
Try gating your samples

Sorry i didnt specify, but this only happens when i record in pattern select. Everything loops perfectly when i just loop on the pad banks. Both gate and loop are on. Im sorry this is just a bit hard to explain. Say i have a sample that is two bars, but i want it to start on the two instead of the one, and have it play over to the next bar. It cuts the sample off when the next bar starts instead of it playing through. It couldnt be a poly problem because it happens with even one sample. basically any sample that plays longer than the sequence, it cuts off. Does this make any sence to you guys? Sorry im just having troubles explaining the problem.

And no im not using the mpc to trigger. What im trying to do is record the loops from my mpc onto the sp 404, so that i can perform them on the sp 404 without the mpc. The sp cuts off any sound that continues past the length of the sequence.

i don´t get it....
as far is i know it isn´t possible to record samples to
pads in your sp when you are in pattern select mode.

and i would try to turn loop of and just leave gate mode on...
:)

What he is saying is that he makes a pattern and some of his longer samples are NOT sequenced on the first beat of the first measure. He is wondering why those longer samples cut off when the sequence is repeated because those longer samples should play out until they are triggered again later in the sequence.

@chromada you can not have pads set to loop mode when using pattern sequencer. Only gate or one shot otherwise when the sequence comes back around it turns the pad off. Using gated loop mode will work while one shot loop mode will not.

Hope that helps.

Does it cut off when you sequence a single sample on the 2nd beat as a one shot, gate and loop turned off?

what you could do is resample from pad A with loop mode on to pad B. like 2 or more cycles. now you have pad B with your looped sample. loop and gate buttons should be off. then record the pattern and hit pad B on the 2. now the sample should start over again on the 2 like you wanted.
it works but i don't know if i explained it understandable. good luck!
