Hey guys, Thought I'd give you a heads up on the iMPC app. I've been waiting on this for ages so I'm glad they have finally delivered it.

Currently at work atm, so can't play with it but will report back once I have.

Cop it here: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/impc/id584548447?mt=8

just been reading up on this, apparently there's no chop shop??!! if it's going to have the mpc name on it you should be able to chop like a real mpc. not a concern for me, as i only use the ipad as a sound module, but c'mon son!

Would be cool to mess around with if there was an iPhone version (don't have an iPad). Although it'd be tiny pads on that tiny screen.

yup, no chopping and no adsr to fade the end of those snares and chops. Its beatmaker minus all the mpc stuff.

I'm honestly not surprised with this garbage. It's retronym. Tabletop was a cash in crap fest and so is this.

Beatmaker2 works wonders for the price. Comparing these two apps is not fair. iMPC is like all the other "jam/toy" type apps while BM2 has matured into a serious production tool.

A few BM2 features:

Audio tracks
Good sequencer
Midi in/out
Audio interface support
Drop box support
Chop lab
Non destructive chop
Stream from disk instead of load to ram
Fx bus sends
Side chain compression
Adjustable swing settings per step
Decent sampler keyboard (think asr10)
Decent export settings
Audiobus support in next update

Akai should be ashamed to put their name on this app, but it falls in line with the rest of the shit they are putting out these days. I had a little hope for this app, but I'll let it pass. I would have figured with all the time in development it would at least support mpc1k/2500 or even legacy files, but sadly not.

If you're looking for something fun get samplr.... Like springwater mentioned it updated recently to add the features that were missing. It's totally worth the $5. Give it a try and let iMPC fall into the black pit which it came from.

Retronyms will most likely address these comments. They have just created a feature to revolutionize how their app works with other apps. So i can only assume that they will add chopping. Tabletop came out and it didnt have shit, now it has a ton of other add-ons and Midi controller support with a ton of other features that finally made it worthwhile. I think a lot of these companies release things into its beta form. Since apple doesnt allow you to release a beta build, they release it, get comments then fix it. My company releases only in canada as sort of a beta, for a few weeks, then in the US. So hopefully they fix the no-chopping since everyone in the fucking world secretely wants an mpc 2000xl but dont want to pay 500 bucks for an old machine.

That's lame this app is lame. I don't look forward to many I-apps but I was hoping to use this over the holiday travel if it proved worthy.
Thanks for guinea pigging this $7 loafer so the rest of us don't have to suffer.

In other app news I used the ipolysix thing the other day. . .its good with a keyboard midi'd and supposedly you can use the nano controller to adjust filters adsr etc and it automaps.

i just caught wind of this app called audiobus, which allows you to use multiple apps at the same time. Like you can run a synth through a filter then to another program which looks kool called loopyhd. Which is a pretty sweet looking looper.

fuck impc for now.

So gutted about the lack of chopping one you've saved a sound. The turntable sampling is nice tho, means I don't have to bring in the full song ala Beatmaker. Be easy to get round the chopping part as it remembers your last song on the turntable, so its just a case of sampling sections you want then chopping them up. I know J Depina doesn't use the chopping function in the mpc 2000 so it can be done.

It does look nice though and I'm sure with some updated features it will be sweet. I have beatmaker, but I find it a bit overwhelming when just wanting to bash out a quick beat.

Will keep on going with it and maybe upload some stuff over christmas, maybe a youtube video or too
