We all know that effects are the 404's strengths, so which effects do you value more than others?

personally i love the "lo-fi" effect. It doesnt give you that raw madlib like feel like i was hoping, but it gives it that mad 8-bit like commodore 64 sound. Its also fun to play with the second control knob for real time modulation..

djfx looper comes close second,

so whats yours?

The lo-fi sample stetting for resampling but i guess that's not really an effect. But so far my main weapon of choice must be the vinyl simulator since it combines a compressor and this 'noise-generator' that can (if used in moderation) breath life in your drums. The isolator is also used alot but mostly as a 'track-mute' to try out different ideas while building up a song. I use the subsonic from time to time to give more low-end to my drum samples.

I like how you can hook a keyboard etc. into it and apply effects/mono directly to what you're playing. Also the vinyl sim works wonders for drums

vinyl sim & iso are dope. djfx loopers is pretty cool for creating interesting looping sounds to layer your tracks with.

chromatic ps is also very dope for some guitar sounds. u can change harmony in a nice way. very usefull!!

it depends too much. different fx affect different sounds in a very different way. I would say overall the isolator, lofi, vinyl sim, subbass( further tweeking usually necessary).

Why is it that so many people love the vinyl sim? Is there something I'm missing? like the flutter is a little annoying if you over do that IMO, and for vinyl sounds? why dont ya'll just record some fresh crackles off REAL vinyl! I guess I am missing something...?

I personally like the vinyl sim because of its compressor that is controlled by the 1st cntrl knob. The "comp" effect is really harsh sounding, so i tend to run it through the vinyl sim instead....

EQ and as of late I've been heavy into the pitch fx mainly because it sounds so unrealistic and can change up sounds a lot without effecting the main structure of the sound.

what do you guys use the DJFX Looper for?

i like assigning it to all the drum pads in a pattern, then twisting the beat around while, the melody/bass plays on. this is also good with the BPM Looper which adds a nice variable hiccup to your groove

does anyone use these effects on individual samples? for resampling?

Favorite effect?

... Mmm... Okay, the effect that is the most useful to me is definitely the Isolator. Really does what I need it to do everytime; damn useful.

But my favorite has to be Reverb. A love, like... I dunno, I really love waves of sound. Not trance or Yanni-like synth (I usually find both to be pretty boring), but, like... Listen to the Feels album by Animal Collective. F'ing packed with reverberation.
