Re: BEAT TAPE NUMBER 6
I thought the drums were a little weak, with enough resampling they can be beefed up though

Re: BEAT TAPE NUMBER 6
awesome cover pic ideas!
eisendraht's one for the win
I'm down but cant make any promises.. I'm still behind on other projects I should be working on.
If I had a funk-ton more time (and a full version of my game-making software) I could make an official beat-tape game using tracks from the album.
maybe late 2013 I'll surprise you all with one

To each their own...this is not typical hip hop drums, this is a rock kit recorded and mixed that way. The idea is to use SP effects to twist these to what you want. You gotta chop and use some skillz.
I mean, we were making drum hits out of a youtube hank hill quote on the resample battle...
2nd. By resampling you can ad your own character to the drums too.
No problems Neotech, yeah it'd be cool if you do something regardless of how late the track is. But it's gonna be university style conditions for late submissions. Every day late is an additional 10% points deduction.
Note that I just edited the original post with an update on the due date for submissions. Looking back at what I was saying to folks in PMs, I'm gonna call for all tracks by the 21st of December. That should be long enough for everyone to put together some short & sweet at the very least.

Re: BEAT TAPE NUMBER 6
Ive got an epic ninja gaiden/ donkey kong mashup in the works, its nearing completion, video game beats are my fav so i really wanna make a heater, cant rush it. I spent about 4 hours last night playing games and listening for the perfect samples. Im really excited for this. I also put a good amount of time into resampling the drums and i actually got a fucking beautiful kick drum sound, it worked out well for me
Re: BEAT TAPE NUMBER 6
is it okay if i use some hit/punch noise from a game to do my kick or snare instead of the drums? lel
Re: BEAT TAPE NUMBER 6
If you need to, that's OK. Try to layer Blav's drums with your punch/kick/blast sounds, because those could get annoying if you don't use them right. Layering will thicken the sound a bunch too.
*EDIT* Two champions have high scored beats so far.

Re: BEAT TAPE NUMBER 6
Subsonic effect better be ok. 8 bit basslines dont thump hard at all, even with eq

Yeah SP effects are fine! What I meant back there was no additional bass synth or bass guitar. Pull your bass from the games you sample.
What kind of maniac would say no to Subsonic?
