Hi, i got the SP 404sx a couple of days ago, and i'm struggling with a few things.
- i'd like to know how you can use different effects on your track. for instance i'm using a bpm looper on my drums, and wanna use some reverb for my sample but each time i put the reverb on the bpm looper stops.
- also i'd like to know how i can record things i play onto live. is it possible?
Thanks for the help in advance.
Peace.

You can only use 1 effect at the same time, not any more! The way around your problem would be to resample the sound you want reverb on and then apply the bpm looper.

To record live you'd have to record onto something else, such as a computer, or use the pattern sequencer.

Also, is there a way to slice up a sample automatically (following a certain BPM), or do I always need to record each slice manually?

as far as i know there is no "shortcut" to chopping samples, you just have to do it yourself using the mark button and copying pads, what i do is i take the full sample and copy it for as many times as i want to chop, and use the mark button to trim each one to size., i know it can be tedious, but using the "start/end/level" button and knobs to trim can be helpful, refer to your manual for an explicit explanation on how to trim chops efficiently

That hiss is done with a tape recorder i think... but if you compress all the samples in your beat then when there is silence it makes a hiss. Or sample a hiss sound, compress the whole beat, turn the volume of the hiss way down, and when there is silence the compressor will boost the volume of the hiss automatically.

Record out to cassette and then resample back in.
