You can add and remove bars on the 303, if you have a 8 bar loop in the pattern sequencer you just have to set the pattern length to 4 bars and it'll cut it in half.

1 I wanted to change length but i guess you can't do that

2 I wanted to add more noises to the pattern.

I haven't figured out how to edit a pattern though.

Thanks all

you can keep adding bars but you cant take them away once you recorded a sequence with that amount.

To change the pattern length just press the length button and then adjust the number of bars with the cntrl knob. To add a sound just press the pad with that sample while the pattern sequencer is recording, to remove a sound just press the del button and hold down the pad you want to delete and it will remove the sound from where it was placed. Also if you can't play a lot at once with the pattern sequencer, make sure you're not exceeding the polyphony of the machine.

The sp-303 I use has 8 voices of polyphony which means that it can playback a maximum of 8 sounds at once. A sample in mono will take up 1 voice, a sample in stereo will use 2 for the left and right audio channels. But you have the 404 which I believe has 12 voices of polyphony so you have 4 more than myself but I never run into problems with exceeding the limit.
