Peak Indicator not lighting up and no sound when sampling

Hello everybody I just bought a sp-303 and I am having some trouble sampling records onto it. I hit the record button and select a pad to record it on and then hit the record button again and my turntable is playing so it should be picking up the sound since they are plugged into the same mixer. But when I hit the record button again to stop sampling and hit the pad that I sampled the record onto it lights up but no sound ends up playing.... Can anyone help me out????

when you hit rec and choose a pad to sample to, you hear the sound you wanna sample. if not check the connection(sp-in mixer out).

Ok am I plugged in correctly? My mixer's (a 2-channel numark iM1) inputs are plugged into my turntable and the sp-303's output. And my mixer's output is plugged into my speakers. Is this right?

Turntable out to mixer in> mixer out to sp in > sp out to speakers

Or turntable out to SP in > SP out to mixer in > mixer out to speakers

Would my wires not being plugged in correctly be the reason why my peak indicator isn't lighting up?

Yes very much so. You need an audio source going into your SP303 RCA input.

Iam also finding the same problem!.. i can play back preset sounds thats already on the sampler. but when i playback my recorded sample from turntable it doesnt play back. the sp 303 shows that its recorded the sample with the pad lighting up to the length of the sample put cant hear nothing?

Im using turntable into 2 mixer and got mixer going in2 NI Audio Control Interface and got sp 303 in 2 mixer and out Tascam Digital Porta Studio 8 Track (but not sure how to use it).
