External Sequencing Resampling?

Hey
I'm new here and am picking up a 404sx.
Is it possible to have samples being triggered by an external midi sequencer and resample the results? I guess polyphony wouldn't really be an issue, as I'd like to sequence "the basics", but still want to compose based on "the feel".

It would work but no velocity is recorded iirc.

Also remember that there is no midi out so you gotta sequence is using something else

I'm actually planning in sequencing the SX with an iPad running a simple step sequencer. Sounds fun fun fun!
