Cool features from other gear you wish Rolands SP/MV had....

Post by blavatsky »

Just some thoughts on other gear I used and what I miss from it/ wish roland had:

-Yamaha RS7k: The chopping was slooooowww but it had different ways to add reverse tails/fades/tricks to make the chops sound smoother and blend into each other.

-Loop remix: takes your MIIDI notes and completely flips the timing, stutters, breaks , rolls....aphex twin/auchtere style stuff. Used correctly on some snares/hats (or even synth notes) this thing was a beast

-Random patch (various synths): this would be fun on the SP or especially MV, basically randomize effects/level/panning/LFO etc to get new sounds.

-Motion sequencing (Korg electribe) - sequence all the knob twists, filter, effect changes, etc as a pattern or song plays.

Instant/live sampling like microsampler's "key gate" sampling type.
And vinyl/tape pitching

i wish the sp 404 and 555 had mute groups, at least 4 or 5 of them, it would also be cool if they had 8 or 12 tracks when recording a pattern.

i also wish all of the sp series had the djefx looper effect.

-midi reverse from yamaha an200
-copyng parts/micro parts from roland mc series
-arpeggio custom made from mc909
-step sequencer as on mc series or electribe BUT with swing (not so cool on electribes, very nice on mc series) but maybe this one is yet available on MV series (?)
-BIG FADER/WHEEL WITH REAL F*****G PITCH (as on mc909,mpcs, st224)
-sampling while listen to patterns (as on MPCs,st224 and mc909)
-resampling patterns (MPC 1000 and above, st224, mc909, korg es series, ensoniq asrx series)
-real panning (as on sp606,mpc,mc909,st224,korg es series, asrx series)
-real EQ (not as an effect and per pads as on MPCs,asrx series)
-live time-stretching (as on st224,mc-909)

Man I want the Pitch Tune and Pitch Shift features of the MPC1000 in the SP-606. No need for that corroded timestretch when you can shorten or lengthen with Pitch Tune and then restore its Key with Pitch Shift. C'mon Roland!!!

I want my MV-Renegade and SP-Bedroom already!

Some kind of hybrid between a Maschine with decent VSTi integration and the sequencer from the MV8800 with all it's features, together with a touch pad FX section not unlike the KP3+, but integrated with the MV/Maschine sampler.

Because now, we just have to get all of that to get the same. ;-)

(On a different note, I am starting to really like Maschibe a lot, for as long as a project doesn't become too big as it requires quite a lot of performance from my PC. )

Wish the sp's had
Pitch tuning
Mute/choke groups
And a big one for me is
forwards reverse looping points that can start at any point in the sample my mpc 1000 could do it, and most software can too.
