Isolation of specific instruments in a sample

I never thought that isolating individual instruments in a sample would be possible but it looks like someone has cracked it.

Wow, that is amazing. I don't know why I never thought of it. I remember reading how to make glitch photos, where you take a normal picture and import it raw into a text editor and add random text all over the place, then import it back into photoshop and it will be glitchy. I don't know why I never thought to apply the same idea to different filetypes like audio files. I used to always think that it was nearly impossible to do this type of thing, but I can see this totally working if you put the effort in and get a good feel for it.

This is amazing. Never though this would be possible, ever! Obviously will work better with certain instruments, like the synth lead that doesn't have a boat load of harmonic content!

It's a spectral image, showing the harmonic content etc. Imagine it's converting audio to a picture. You can then draw on the picture and convert it back and you'll hear your "drawn" modifications.
