In the SP world you can get that sound with vinyl sim effect or a compressor. It also sounds like final track renders were recorded to cassette to smooth out the compressor. Is Gordy Michael an SP user?

@2:10 in the video you posted you can see him tapping out sound on a SP-404SX.
It's whats in that spray bottle next to the machine that makes his stuff so ill to you. You got to spray that all over the tape to get that sound you're looking for.

Well, for one, it's the samples he's lifting. @0:51 in the video he pulls out a Parliament record. So he's starting off sampling dope material.
You can see he's using a Numark PT-01 portable turntable. The "tone" knob on that thing allows some play in saturation, turning it low to give a muddiness to the sound.
Again, in the video, @2:38 you can see he got a little 4 track recorder sitting on top of a tape deck. So a guess is he records onto that.
Cassette has its own uniqe quality in a recording. But you can still get a raw, gritty sound even from vinyl into a sampler and recording in a digital medium. Pitch, compression, and EQ are only a few effects that can shape audio character.
Play around with stuff, and in a while you'll start to develop your own signature sound.

you could also get a similar sound by sampling the static of a record and looping it under your beat. try adding a lpf to it if you dont want it so harsh sounding.

some tape saturation plugins would do that as well, a cassette player also dirtys up sounds quite nicely, i just bought a dubbing cassette deck at goodwill for like 12 bucks, its cool to run beats through.
