Are sp 404sx still the go? I'm ready to buy! Can't find any!

I want to give these a go, am thinking they might hook up well to our octapad, and roland synth well and be able to create some cool sounds.

Are they still the go? Given they have been around a while, is anything new coming maybe? should I be spending more on the 555?

I'm specifically wanting a non-computer based system. Something the kids can play around with too without getting my computer involved!

What's a fair price once I can track something down? eBay has one only, and the four music shops I visited don't carry them.....

They're still about. I bought mine more than a year a go and they haven't dropped in price since then. Same with the 555. The 555 has the d beam, extra 4 pads and the looper thing. Not sure if the 555 has the upgrades the 404sx has as the 555 came out with the 404 (I think?!)

I wish they would release something new as akai have just released three new mpc devices, but there hasn't been any word really. I think the 404 will still live strong tho as many peeps use them for a range of things as they're quite tactile! I love my sx!

check craiglist or ebay i think guitar center has sx still in some stores. i have a connect there if you email him there's discount and also can have shipped to store near area to pick. i left post on here awhile ago i think a few ppl acted on it.lol but seriously i would check with him.

u have a synth so maybe this isn't such an issue to you, but i just wanted to make you aware if you werent already that the SP samplers (well all the current ones) you can't spread a sample across a keyboard and play it pitched, unless you load a sample for each note in to begin with.. it does have some pitch capability but its very basic/rough sounding. Anyhow some people dont realise this so just letting you know
