Ghetto multitracking trouble

Post by ellaguru »

Hi
Recently i play my 505 with samples on the hard left and drums on the hard right in order to have easy time after on the final mix and mastering with separate mono live tracks.
What i encountered was strange. At first things worked well with panning but after some weeks now the 2 channels are hard left/hard right no more. I thought it was a soundcard or pc issue but i tried with different other machines with the same soundcard/pc system and ghetto panning works ok with them...
So i tried yesterday to connect the 505 phone out and panning from it is ok.
Do you think this is the beginning of the end of my 505 regular outs? I hav to solder them? Clear them?
Thanks

hm....are you hearing it hard L / R through the headphones okay? the problem is just through the outs? have you tried recording and then seeing if the panning is correct on playback?

I found when I run the 505 into the PC, I pan the I/O's inputs hard L / R as well to recreate that sound. On the way in it sounds "down the middle" but on playback the sounds are panned hard L&R.

donno if that helps or not ella. good luck mans.

Fauna, thanks man. The only thing i could say is that the last session of samples i tried out is not coming from 505's ins but from pc>smartmedia, who knows if there is a connection between that fact and the outs "malfunction"....but how to exlplain that panning doesn't works on them but works on phones out?....
