505 vs Microsampler

Post by treezy z »

people who have experience with both, which would you get? price is about 75 more for microsampler which isn't a big deal. current gear i own is a sp-303, sampletrak, mpc 500, kaoosilator pro, and an interface and some software.

i used a sp 505 for like 2-3 weeks and really didn't like it much.
still, alot of people seem to like it, but coming from the 303/404sx and various other sampler, the fact that i had to look at a screen alot (even thos it was quite nice and easy to understand) was kind of boring for me.

I use a microsampler alot and the fact that you have 30something sample you can use on a bank, a quite basic but dope sequencer, resample pattern/audio in, KEY GATE SAMPLING, ability to keypitch sample (505 too), 2 audio source, and much more make me like that toy alot.

since the 404 is my main boy, i usually just sample what i play on the microsampler str8 in the 404, and then live play these "pattern" to build my track.

i usually also keep a drum runnin on the 404, resample what I play on the microsampler so i keepdoing that shit on beat, then sample the resampled pattern, if that make any sense.

anyway for me i prefer microsampler over 505

ALSO: ability to pan sample, to have an decay/release enveloppe on sample, precise editing of sample, halfdecent software to backup/trim sample...
