volume on finished tracks are low volume

so i have an og 404 and i record into audacity using the RCA cables and do this on my macbook pro, but when i listen to my finished track the volumes super low. i have the volume all the way up on my 404, is there anything you guys can think of to fix this?

pro audio should be recorded -3 db so watch your meter, this expands your dynamic range, 0 db is the digital limit for clipping audio so never record above 0db, if your sp is turned up but the signal is coming in low still, you may have to boost it with your mic/line in gain on your soundcard, you should be able to find a nice balance. my tascam 24 track records at -16db then i bounce er back to my 404 for mastering. but when i use a computer i use linux and it has Igain , the best software gain i ever fuxed with. ever.

have you checked the input volume in the system prefs? i know its simple but some ppl miss it...

Check your audio preferences and there should be a gain option in which you need to boost the signal.
