R U more likely to listen to beat singles or tapes?

Just curious, when you guys see stuff posted on here, are you more likely to check it if its a single beat, a beat compilation like on bandcamp, or stream of several beats in 1 track?

If it's from somebody I know or heard before, I like to have a listen to a single to hear what new they got in the works.
If the single is from someone I've never heard of, it could make or break them. If I don't immediately like it, I pass and they're dismissed. If I see something with their name on it in future I'm thinking "I'll pass on this cus the last stuff I heard from them was wack."

People are quick to post stuff to get a feel for what the listening public think of their work. But I think someone emerging should take time to put together a whole collection of sound, revealing piece by piece who they are and what their message is. Something with substance and soul.

Bandcamp is cool because it allows both stream and download. It's crafty for posting as a widget on multiple places. And it's easy to play and figure out.

I'm more interested in stuff from those that take time to create a whole package around their music. Artwork, photos, maybe a video, a written message about what was in their head at the time of production or what is future agenda.
It be dope to see one of these cats stuck on 8-bit sounds press out a enhanced CD with a friggin' video game loaded on it.

The main reason I started saving up beats for tapes was because I would prefer to download tapes to individual songs. Sometimes single songs are nice if you want to hear what someone is making at that very moment, but I like to hear a bunch of stuff from one person all at once to get a better idea of the kind of music they make.

Damn. Brutal honesty there Matt, yeah I'm pretty guilty of posting every brainfart I record. Can't help thinking you're right about the listener's response to hearing an ordinary track by one dude when there's another thousand out there to check on next. No point in going back if the last tune was a dud, what's the next producer got?

Which sucks when you're the producer that just got overlooked when you can do better. But that's life. Reason why I give a shit about what other people think is because other people who like music know what good music sounds like. Its easy: shit music posted publically gets few to no repeated listeners. The more repeat listeners, the better the music.

When it comes to stuff posted on here I generally check stuff out, be it single or tape, if the member posts quite often, I've read some of their posts and they contribute quite a lot to the forum.

I much prefer compilations or tapes, as I feel the artist has spent time putting it together rather than just rushing some crap out. I love listening through bandcamp as it'll automatically play through the tape.

too much politics for me, i dig it all.. singles,tapes,mixes,collections, music is all about fun and feeling good, its hard for me to come to a conclusion on any one persons music after one joint, im just not that kind of person i guess and im sure as hell no one to say whether someone elses music is dope or not expression is expression. let it ride... im not just trying to take the high road here i really find it hard to be super critical of someones creativity. either way its all good to me

I know what you mean Malone.
But I'll say this, make it match your style. Like some 'tapes' have a few songs that are great but don't mix well as a whole. On the other hand, some singles seem to need to keep going or feel as if are only a part of something more.
For me, I'd love to be able to make a mix that was fresh. But some of y'all put so much more effort in it. I rarely listen to stuff here that isn't very good on, at least, some level.
