Hi,

Just started to use it properly and confused by a couple of things.

When I load a backup, I have to turn the sp off and on. Is this normal?

When the backup is restored, it hasn't saved my effect settings. Is this normal? Does that mean there is no way to keep a song ready to play?

Whoah! You've been lurking here 3+ years & only just started getting into the 606? I'm curios- have you picked one up recently or have you gotten interested in it after some time away from it?

To answer your questions:

1, Yeah that's normal, you're effectively resetting the machine to a state similar to a DIY factory reset. The SP just needs to reset to ensure that everything's where it should be in the RAM.

2, The 606 can't save FX settings. If you change an effect, go to a different one then return to the first (without switching it off) then it will remember the FX setting. Switching off will lose the positions of the dials. Note that this doesn't apply to the mastering FX. Although it won't apply on startup, the last mastering save will remain.

Unless FX are absolutely essential to how you play songs then this shouldn't be much of an issue. The song & pattern modes are separate from the FX, so sequencing a song or pattern will not be affected by any FX you use. If you're really keen on saving FX for your samples, try to use resample to capture your sounds with the FX already applied. Its not as flexible as playing with FX on the fly, but it makes things more convenient.

thanks v much for the reply. I think i joined the forum after buying my 555. Then i became envious of the 606 owners and sought one out. Tbh i prefer the 606. My top tip for the moment is resampling on the 606. If you set the mfx on one of the slots to delay, set the time to 1 bar, set the level on full, you effectively have a lofi 1 bar loop capture for resampling the pattern sequencer and other. Very useful. Hope to chat more soon. Take care.

tempo synced delay with 100% feedback means whatever you play into it will repeat forever. for the length you specify. so you set it to 1 bar then play 1 bar into it, it will keep repeating it.

What about resampling the pattern sequence? Thats what inquiring minds wants to know.

set the delay up with 100% level, 100% feedback, time set to 1 bar.

play the pattern sequencer into it and stop it right on the downbeat as the pattern loops to prevent phasing.

Now you will hear the pattern repeating endlessly from the delays buffer.

Hit resample and you can capture the 1 bar loop back onto a pad.

Turn the feedback on the delay to zero to empty it.

Once empty put it back on full.

Repeat for any additional bars, say queue your pattern to play bar 2 of a 4 bar loop.

Repeat until you have resampled your entire pattern.
