can i listen to a pattern while recording a sample?!?

is there someway i can listen to my pattern while recording a sample (via synth)? or at least a metronome?

that's not possible

but you could run a metronome on ur computer
or record ur pattern onto another device (mobile phone, computer, cassette etc.)

that seems crazy that i can't monitor a pattern while recording a sample...so strange
