Spacetrip - That artwork is BIZARRE! The beat too. Really energetic.

Mad Evil Science - That sample was begging to be slowed and pitched down. Good job recognizing that. I've had a pretty rough week so I was really feeling this one. It helped me achieve that problem-tackling kind of mood.

Blavatsky - Raw but complex. Pretty damn amazing! I especially enjoyed the second half.

DJ KS - Great transitions. Cool dark beat. I was going to compliment the drum pattern until I realized you just looped the sample break. Nice work with the effects on it though.

Chickadee - Take it easy there buddy! Just kidding. I dig it.

Rowsedower - Another off-the-wall mess of a crazy-ass beat! You surely had some fun making this which makes it fun to listen to. Who needs a shrink when you've got an SP, right?

MroProducts - Not my cup of tea (no offense) but it was interesting to hear some gritty house music.

Runme Raw - That hits hard! Thanks for that adrenaline rush! You gave me a couple fresh ideas here. Thanks for that too.

lllll - What a glorious last-of-the-battle entry by the belt holder!

I vote Mad Evil Science because that beat was just what the doctor ordered. Runners up : lllll and Blavatsky

Now its back to the lab where I belong. Peace.

@everybody: great job ! Keep it up !

spacetrip - Chippy
Great loop with the bird sample, and the good opening atmosphere is enforced by the fade-in of the hats at 0:10.
Nice stuttering sounds (e.g. at 0:34), and I liked the use of the filter.
The general impression is very musical and everything sounds well mixed, but the loop is too short: at 0:48 I really wished for some variation, but unfortunately it didn't happen, and the song felt a tad repetitive.

rowsedower - microwaved peep
Very 'in your face' production, there's not much bass throughout.
Drums sound a little hollow, but hit very hard, and fit well with the lo-fi feel of the song.
I'm not too sure about the slowed down beginning, while the sound you came up with at 0:25 feels like some sort of weird giant beast cry, great job.
At 0:57 I was really hoping for some change, but unfortunately things kept repeating over and over, a real pity since the ending part at 1:36 is very nice.

chickadee - 2HIGH4FLY
A thick but coherent layer of variegated and original sounds, enriched by a loose and floating beat.
That overdriven, filtered organ sounds that keeps playing throughout the song is very musical: everything sounds very well balanced, save for the short bird sample at 0:54, that felt a little too prominent to me.

runme_raw - Goodbye G !
The song is permeated by a convincing psychedelic feel, and the phasing at 1:09 reminded my of the early Chrome songs.
The part from 2:06 to 2:14 is impressive, featuring a great sequence of those nice and weird little sounds that are the trademark of this composition, imho.
Nice use of the drums, too, especially that crazy upbeat loop at 1:27.
The short phrase that starts at 0:14 is so frequently used throughout the song that I wished it could provide a little more variation, though.

dj ks - Lonesome dreams hunter
The loop with the voices at the beginning is very good and has a nice rhythmic feel to it.
Great job with the drums, too: they feel spacious and their entrance is well timed.
The soft, pensive part that starts at 1:15 is surprisingly effective, hinting at a subtle melody that enriches and completes the composition.

mad evil science - Garlic Neckbrace
Great opening loop, the bass that enters at 0:12 is deep and feels somehow perpetual.
When the drums join in, it all feels really epic and cohesive, great job.
What's in there is very good: when the beginning starts playing again at 0:54, you are left wanting for more... I think it's a good sign.

mroproducts - SP Battle 122
Italo disco meets tracker music: I was sincerely expecting Tom Hooker (or better Sabrina Salerno) to start singing at any moment, over what feels like a complete base of some forgotten 80's summer hit.
Original and skillful use of the machine: the song features many variations that put the effects to good use, and everything is done with good sense of measure.
The part that starts at 1:34 feels like the chorus, nonetheless I wished the song had stronger melodic variations, especially since it's pretty long.
Speaking of length, I would have cut it at 3:19.

chopperman - Remember Us
I really liked how the starting material got relegated to a mere pretext for creative, ferocious experimentation.
After the vocal sample that entitles the song, we hear some instrumental 'stabs' played along the drums, with a free style that reminds a break taken from a drummer during a live concert, quite skillful indeed.
Even if this first part features some weird sounds here and there, nothing can prepare us from what starts at 0:26, and feels like a time machine that catapults us in a distant future, where mankind has long disappeared.
A sardonic drum beat, interspersed with industrial noise bursts, seems to celebrate the victory of machines over man, together with a mocking baritonal reed-like lead voice (I'm not sure the drums are always in sync with the voice here, though).
The following part is even more cruelly exultant and astonishing, and features a masterful use of space by the drum beat.
Surprisingly, the very ending of the song features the sound of birds: maybe a sign that some living creatures actually did survive... or maybe just a sample triggered by a bored machine.

iiiii - Receipt Belt
The starting loop has great emotional impact, the pressing drum beat is accompanied by a simple yet effective bass loop.
At 0:20 the vocal sample is used with taste, and the following drum break features an outstanding progressive use of the hat/ride, while the underlying sounds lead to the ending part at 1:05, when we are taken back to the beginning of the song (I would have used some 'crash' sound to underline the apex of the composition here).
That sound that feels like a feeedback guitar note, starting from 0:36 and progressively gaining body till 1:05... is simply incredible.
Startling sound production, and I really wished this was longer.

blavatsky - Curse of the Nightwalker (gets my vote)
The first part has a dramatic feel that is emphasized by a fractured beat and multi-directional sounds, it feels like a strenous attempt to escape from a looming, ominous truth.
The unsettling, somehow exotic part at 1.00 evokes the feeling of being lost in a thick fog: seems like our attempt to escape has failed.
The shivering, dark and suspended part that starts at 1:15 shows us our new reality, a desolated world of personal nightmares that await us for a final, hopeless confrontation.
A little masterpiece, aptly titled.

The 'feedback guitar' note is a tone from the sample chopped as small as possible, looped thru reverb, then resampled using voice changer to alter it (try it)

My vote went to the BLAVATSKY
dope tracks all around though, found the sample hard to work with so it was cool seeing how well everyone flipped it
