hello all, so I've been trying to figure this out...but i know i'm doing something wrong..

Ideally I would like to put this all together in a way so I don't have to keep disconnecting and reconfiguring. but if that's not possible i understand.

this is my setup:

2 Technics Turntables connected to a Stanton SK-2F dj mixer
Mpc 1000
Microkorg
Sp-404
Yamaha MG102C analog mixer
Pioneer Receiver

I would also like to be able to send signal out of the mpc into the yamaha mixer and through the sp in order to apply fx to tracks, and then send that back into the mpc..

I do not want to use a computer. what is the best wire configuration in your opinion for this gear?
thanks in advance

your in the same dilemma i was in until i figure out the same issue your having. Im at work right now but ill try and remember to respond to this when i get home. I should be able to help you out. What i have now is a mixer with all of my inputs being sent to the mpc, then to the sp 555, then to the multitrack. Dont want to use a computer either. I got a monotribe, and a keyboard and a turntable and my ipad going into the mixer.
Off the top of my head im sure that you have to use one of the mpc's aux outs, like 1,2,3,4 out to mimic a send return. If you use stereo out and have that signal come back in, theres feedback. This is if your going out from the mpc and into a machine then right back into the mpc, which ive done. if your just recording the samples into another machine, tuning them, then going to the mpc, you sort of close whatever would create the feedback loop.
Ok, i should just wait till i get home to type a ton of shit and try to condense it to be more helpful but i got your back yo!

good lookin out...

I don't have a multitrack at the moment, which is why i'm trying to:

send individual mpc tracks out---->to yamaha mixer for eq---->to sp for fx--->then back into the mpc...

but I'd like to be able to listen to the entire beat while I'm sending individual tracks to the mixer...so that I ca eq tracks with the rest of the beat still playing...but the problem is I'm using the mpc stereo outs for the beat...outputs for individual tracks..and the record in for those resampled tracks...which gives me a feedback type of problem...and some phasing...

I came up with a work around for this, but my hopes are that I can do it all simultaneously...if that's impossible...then oh well..

but yea when you get a chance, let me know what worked for you...

much appreciated.

Oh, well send the 4 outs, assuming you got a mpc 1k, to the 4 ins of you mixer, assuming you got 4 inputs. On the mpc, each instrument can be set to use a certain out, from pads to an entire program. I have the jjos so it's easy to Set up your outputs. At one point I had drumkit programs with all my kicks going out to channel 1, snares channel 2 and so on. Once the mpc is going to your mixer, anything coming back into it shouldn't cause feedback. Stereo out from the mpc would cause feedback. So keep things going out of the 4 outs. Then, you should be able to play a pad while in the record screen and sample back what your playing which hitting the mpc pads. That's one cool thing that it does, let's you play pads while on the record screen since you can record the main outs like sp resampling. You should be all good then. The mpc is powerful but has shit for effects so your on the right road. Then your mpc stereo it could go to your speakers and your all good.
Have fun

got one more question for anyone that can help out..

is it a bad idea to use my mixer's aux send into the line in of my sp-404?
and then use the 404's line out-to the return on the mixer?

Aux send output(balanced 1/4")------> Line in(unbalanced rca)
Line out(unbalanced rca)--------------->Aux return(balanced 1/4")

i've read that sending balanced signal to unbalanced input is okay

but it's not okay to send an unbalanced signal into a balanced input

I want to use the sp to apply fx on mpc tracks, which are being sent to 4 channels on the mixer

thanks again

Nope, I do it with the 808, which has a million effects. Just keep the ext source open an the effects linked to it. You can still sample, tweak, then send it back to the mixer.

Don't know about the balanced unbalanced thing. Who cares really, if it sounds fine then your good. Never even thought about that, I just go plugin away. Only problem I ever ran into is noise and volume issues with peaking.
