new flagship sp coming soon?
Anyone knows anything about it? I think it's about time!
Re: new flagship sp coming soon?
Not heard anything about a new SP unless anyone else has?
To be fair I would unfortunately say the days of the hardware sampler are pretty much over. Its been more than three years since the 404SX and I cant think of any new samplers that have been released since then. Even the newest MPC needs to be connected to a laptop!
Dont get me wrong, I would love to see a new SP. But with competition from Akai and the Native Instruments maschine gaining steam all the time (anyone seen the new version revealed today? Colour changing pads!) I really cant see Roland pushing out a new SP.
Hope i'm wrong though.

You are right, the new Maschine is very nice and with a new 1.8 OS they finally included timestretching which can be done standalone, without the PC.

errr... the maschine can't do anything without a pc... except be an expensive paperweight. "standalone" don't mean jack... just that you don't have to be looking at your pc screen to know what you're doing.
I don't think Roland will release another standalone groovebox... maybe.. it seems unlikely tho seeing as even Akai have now released the Rennaissance as their flagship MPC (MPC no longer stands for Music Production Center... the 'C' now stands for Controller!!)
the beat thang looks interesting even tho its marketing strategy may be somewhat misguided.

no computers, no compromise.

Got the Roland Connect "New Products for 2012" email this week-
Nothing even close to what we'd be sweating.
They have introduced the http://www.rolandconnect.com/product.php?p=integra-7 which might get a rise from hardware lovers.
The Beat Thang looks like the device to beat at this stage for stand-alone radness.
