I've been thinking about this the last few days, and over the last few months I've seen a few "submission etiquette" type post from various music blogs around the web - But does anybody out here have any experience with this ?
I mean the concept is pretty easy to understand, I guess: you have music/shoot a email to the editor and hope they like what they hear. Do most people send out single tracks first or just drop a EP all at once?? Specifically for newer artist, what methods have worked for you ?

though i don't have any personal experience to speak from on this i would offer this advice...BE CAREFUL! when dealing with third parties because they don't always have others best interest at heart, sure they might get your music out to a label or so on but then they might pull that old "you used our service so we get our cut" b.s. remember industry rule number four thousand and eighty. I would just take the D.I.Y approach and just send demos to every label you can think of make tapes/c.ds or whatever and pass those out at shows, create a website for yourself and just promote, not trying to get all tinfoil hat on you, because there are some genuine people out there that will help but there are also some slick in the game people that are always looking for the easy target. also wouldn't hurt to read up on laws governing this sort of stuff.

alot of times is gettin the ppl who run the blog emails. but they gotta be familiar with ur music to emailing them. but i usually email the project ,album artwork , description of the music for major releases. and also tell them to drop the release at 10am for example. so it's like all the blog droppin ur project at the same time. then u have blogs that's got they ear the street and post up ur music as well after seeing u post it.

Interesting, I never thought about the timing like that but def makes sense. So as a newbie, say you do have a project in the works, do typically release 1 or 2 track first or the tracks all at once ?
