Sub Pad Function (The Green Pad)

Post by HxC »

I feel like a dingbat for just 'discovering' this after 4 or so years-
but [FUNC] 9 (Pad Utility) you can switch this function on or off and it turns pad 16 green and that becomes a pad that plays the pad struck most recently.
It's pretty awesome because I play my SP live a lot now- and you can get extra funky by freaking this.
tell me somebody else slept on this function so I don't feel so ignorant

I've messed around with that button too, but I gotta admit I don't get its appeal. Why not just hit the same pad twice and have 16 buttons ready to go instead of 15?

Maybe I'm missing something here... HxC- what is it that makes the button awesome for your playing?

Yes- what Cartesia said-
I play the SP live, and although I have many planned patterns- I often 'freestyle' and add all sorts of alternate hits and different variations as I get deep into the groove. The sub pad allows a dupe of any of the other 15 pads - and you could never execute a tighter double-hit using only one pad.
It 'expands' the instrument and 'liquefies' the playing more.

Since I also use the 606 in the studio- I use pad 16 for loops or long pieces that I would not need to trigger live.
