i was shocked realizing that a new 404SX is about 439€
that is 100€ more than it was back in 2009....
for what? an update on the shitty wave converter? not even that happend...

seriously; fuck you roland!

they did the same shit with the 555; which is still at unbelievable 599€

..as much as i love the sp series; the prices are beyond what that shit is worth it...

i think the most ridiculous is 303s costing 50 USD more than 505s and only 25 less than 404s. probably only because of madlib and dilla. the biggest steal gotta be sampletraks for 70-100 USD.

dilla never used 404 and maybe madlib ocassionally used a 404. madlib used 303 mainly.

i got my 404sx for $250 shipped. brand new, didn't even have the original samples wiped from it. just gotta look.

check ebay, can always find a good deal from somewhere on the planet. just make sure you take into account shipping - there should still be cheap ones, but sometimes ppl will drop the pricetag and lay u with a big fuckoff shipping fee. never buy from someone with unspecified shipping fee.


I think they alter the price based on how much people will pay. Sample-based music is really big at the moment, I think theyre probably experiencing some new product interest.
