Sequencing 303 with anotha sampler
I've had the 303 for some time now. Love it for it's sampling and effect aspect but absolutely hate it's sequencing abilities. I tried to use it stand alone and didn't like it. I tried to use it as a effects unit to process sound before it hits my MPC, and kinda liked it but some things I didn't. Now I wanna go and sequence the 303 with the MPC. Cos I so love the 303's sound and it's way of sampling. I even like truncating by ear on a 303 better than visually on a MPC. So my questions are all related to how much can I control with my MPC? I heard that velocity works when triggering a SP 303 with a MPC. That's nice. I guess panning and stuff still won't work this way right? Wich is okay 'cos one would expect that. How about mute a sample by playing another sample? Gate function of a sample needs to be adjusted on the 303 I guess right? What other function will I gain by sequencing the 303 this way in contrast to sequencing on the 303 itself?

First vid actually inspired me to try sequencing my 303 with my mpc, but left me with some questions. Second vid, the guy has his mpc turned off so this video isn't really relevant.

Re: Sequencing 303 with anotha sampler
just notes and velocity ~ as far as i'm aware nothing else responds to midi.
Samples.
Re: Sequencing 303 with anotha sampler
Okay, guess that will do. Hooked it up yesterday, and had some problems with setting up a proper midi channel. But after a while I got it working. This is a setup I could get used to easily. Love the fact it's forcing you to really think different and approach the way you construct a beat. Primitive yet sufficient.
I guess I'll rock this combo for a long time.
Now I'm gonna check out how to back up my banks of samples to a computer. I got the cardreader-usb thing.
Anyway, thanx guys
