Teebs Kicks & Low End

tryin to figure out how teebs gets his kicks to sound so bassy but so clean and undistorted, does he just use the subsonic effect on the kick transients maybe? idk but they sound awesome and i would like to achieve something like that, like on the song double fifths i would love to have an idea how to get a clean ass kick like that

your going in the right direction if you add a subsonic bass sound to a kick drum. Try it out see what happens. Find a way to eliminate every frequency higher than like 150 hz. Maybe even higher than 80 hz. Just keep isolating the highs and mids out, then filter the kick and it might be low enough. layer 2 dumping ass kick drums, cut off the tails and resample a bunch. Try and sample on of his kicks and use it as a reference.

! beware the subsonic, it can be dangerous to speakers, it is a good idea to cut the lows a bit, and test on a regular powered system. you dont want to blow shit up.

thanks for the tips, yeah I am pretty good at not overloading the bass, I did a lot of modification to songs because of my interest in car audio and i had a 18 inch woofer tuned to 24hz to test it in lol but yeah as long as i dont square the waves and have a clipped nasty bass signal it should be ok, just trying to get that nice touch i hear from teebs it just sounds beautiful

springwater got it, i would use isolater to take out some mids, resample, subsonic (very low, short bass tone), resample, filter (if needed), and eq (if needed)

no idea what teebs kick sounds like
but this is good advice
and if you have no luck with the subsonic like me
do this with an 808 kick with short decay (or to your liking)
tune it, and throw it under the kick
imo it sounds better than the subsonic effect

he is using FL studio for a lot of the production plus guitars and gear he borrows from friends... live its strictly 404

he edits the kicks in fl studio. he might use some 404 fx but yeah what the guy above me said, pretty sure he uses the 404 just for live performances.
